How old Finnish university for foreign students?

Most people think that studying abroad one needs a lot of courage. It is certainly true, but the man is thrown into the raging waters without a lifejacket. Especially for foreign students is well cared for.

So, as about every student who first traveled to study abroad, I had many questions. Before leaving, I pursued the head – What will it be? I can do it all? How will I know what to do? Where can I find such and such? What if something happens? – And many other things. The first responses started coming in even before my departure to Finland.

At first I was surprised by a rapid and effective communication with the foreign department of the other AIS staff host university. Their friendliness and willingness to quickly resolve any problems that arose thanks to a paperwork všelijakému two. Whatever the name incorrectly completed study, in terms of misunderstanding or issues concerning the subjects that I wanted to study independently on the program selected.

Responses came mostly on the same day and although not all been positive and gratifying, the whole tone of the email was very friendly. Until I started thinking about where the error is hidden, where it is known for but that comes at moments of satisfaction. To my surprise, I found no one but nor yet emerge.

Good connection to the foreign department, but not all. Before moving to Finland, I got from the university curriculum, a brochure for foreign students, a guide to the city with a map and basic information about Finland. The package contained a letter from my "Kumm, who then contacted me via email as well. She is a girl, a student at the university, which in my early days helped furnish what was needed (opening a bank account, purchase of Finnish SIM card …). Also, was that person that makes me pick up on the day of arrival at the station, handed over the keys to the apartment and took me there.

Followed by „orientation week“, when everything was explained to me, repeated and passed in printed form and yet I was assured that whenever I come to ask if I misunderstood something. The fact that anyone at any time you turn on questions or problems, although sounds like a cliche, but here's a plain fact. It is quite common to go for coffee with the speaker and discuss all the rest. Of course, that everything governed and their utilization and direct contact is almost impossible to foreign teachers who are simply not present.

Foreign students is the duration of your stay at the university in conjunction with someone who will help and advise, and do not have to worry about ill-treatment. Of course, that there will be exceptions and each university operates on a different principle. As described above is treated with students at the University of Oulu.
