European Cultural Studies - a new branch in West Bohemia in Pilsen

Accreditation Committee in early April, the Ministry of Education approved a two-year field study in European cultural studies at the Master of Arts, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Applications for the academic year 2005/2006 can be submitted electronically by 30 April 2005 (www.ff.zcu.cz).

The new field should be of particular interest not only to graduates of bachelor and master studies, but the art historical, philosophical, linguistic and political science direction. The idea of ​​this program is a response to recent developments in Europe and the need for interdisciplinary professionals. The aim should be education specialists at the European area studies in the context of Czech cultural, scientific and spiritual traditions. During the study will focus on the history of European culture and art as well as the knowledge of European cultural and political institutions. This corresponds to the construction industry, which should develop the knowledge acquired in previous studies. The courses focused on history, philosophy, political science and European art and will be followed by foreign language courses. One motivation is the development of translation skills of graduates. On the website of the faculty can see the visualization of the whole study area. Besides the theoretical knowledge is part of the practice on domestic and European universities involved in research of a particular phenomenon of European culture.

European Cultural Studies graduates find employment as the cultural, administrative and academic spheres.

Applicants undergo a 16th June written entrance exam that tests their knowledge of art history, history, philosophy and literature. The first year should be taken from 1950 to 1960 students.
