You can travel and meet people from all over Europe, "says a student in Brno Gymnasium Reckovice Andy Phillip. "But it's mainly about fun and gaining new experiences,“ adds a smile.

What is EYP ?

It means young people can experience the work of MEPs. They learn to present their views and cooperate in the Commission in making resolutions. EYP work under the auspices of the national parliament, from whose ranks are based on delegates for the summit meeting of Parliament. Czech Youth Parliament has been running since 1999 and the annual meetings of the jury of eight select chosen few who can experience the atmosphere of the summit in a European country. „On the selection conference in Liberec in 2004, our school ranked third, giving us not guarantee participation in international meetings,“ says Philip eighteen. The eight-member delegation was able to start this April to visit the Norwegian town of Stavanger, the scene of the 48th session of the European Youth Parliament.

The ten-day program of the event is divided into several parts. At the beginning of the individual delegates 20členné 12 to form a committee. It's a catch. The commission may meet with two students of the same nationality, they can not communicate in their mother tongue, and were thus forced to work „across Europe.“ Beginnings are not so simple. "When we got together, I did not know what to expect. We looked at each other vytřeštěnými views and feared, if at all acquainted, "laughs Philip. Organizers counted as the initial nervousness of the participants, and therefore the first days are called teambuilding (team formation). Committee members are dedicated to games that are used to getting to know the effective cooperation within the team and last but not least, to entertain.

The following day over the sign of the Commission's work, the so-called committee work. Students deal with pre-selected problem (eg, Turkey and the EU or the introduction of DNA registers), to which in the past few weeks preparing at home. The result of the efforts and discussions over several days as a resolution. It consists of two parts: Informative Operative clauses and clauses. The first section describes the current situation or problem, the other committee members propose the solution. The resolution presented at the supreme act of stay ten days – the General Assembly (General Assembly – GA). In Stavanger the sixteen committees took part, together 250 delegates. "GA proved to me that the work of Members is not easy at all. After a rich evening program and lack of sleep has been difficult to maintain attention throughout the day, "says Philip. Every resolution, after a thorough discussion of the vote. The proposals will go to inspection Despite that the Members.

In Stavanger, the resolution does not create only

The whole stay was accompanied by many cultural events and trips. Among the top events have traditionally included Eurovillage and EuroConcert. The Eurovillage national delegations representing their country. The Czech Czech booth were for cakes, smoked sausage or Moravian. The EuroConcertu, each delegation has prepared its composition. "We chose the song first signal from Chingy. We learned the whole room a simple tune, and we have reaped huge applause, "says Philip, who played the guitar.

At the end of the event was clear that the days spent beautifully parting must be followed. It was not without tears, but new friends have agreed to further meetings and meet as the most important tasks of the European Parliament. "The policy throughout the session did not play a role. The most valuable experience for me to meet new friends. Although each of us came from other places, we were able to solve problems together, and while we had a lot of fun, "concluded Andy Phillip.
