FCE, CAE, Small statesmen, Sprachdiplom, DELF – these concepts have certainly met many of you. The number of people who have high school leaving certificate with any language, is constantly growing. It pays to invest in them? What is good? How can I get? All this can be found in this article.

The aim of each applicant for admission to university is to show in a better light than his „rivals“ have something extra that would help him get to the field of dreams. One of the ways of achieving this is to pass a national or international exam. Some schools have language certificates automatically bonifikují relatively large amount of points (eg, Faculty of Law University last year gave 5 points). And if the university did not come by chance, your CV will certainly look better if you have the qualities of their linguistic evidence than when you write simply that „speak well“.

Given that the greatest interest is the examination of the English language, I will give you the following lines just more information about them. In principle, can be distinguished international and national tests.

The state language examination (state examination) there are at four levels – Basic, General, Translation and Interpreting. For ordinary purposes just the first. It consists of written and oral. The written test includes: writing a long text, vocabulary, listening and grammar. The oral part of the applicants can prepare 11 themes, testing is similar to GCSE. Tests are made in the spring and autumn and is 1700Kč a written part and CZK 500 for verbal.

International certificates there is a wide selection. In our encounter with the most certificates, which grants the British Council and the TOEFL. British certificates are divided on KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE. The most common is the FCE, that its intensity corresponds to approximately Basic state language exam. Also consists of written and oral. The written part is similar to the Czech version, but the candidates are not prepared oral topics. In the randomly selected pairs are examined by a native speaker. They must converse together on any such image, situation, or about yourself. Tests can be folded in December, March and June. The essential difference is the price. Fees are as follows: 2300 CZK KET, PET 2500 CZK, 4300 CZK FCE, CAE 4500 CZK, 4700 CZK CPE. Another test is the TOEFL, for which you pay $ 140, has similar parts as the above-mentioned tests and consists of six times a year in Prague. This test can be applied especially when applying to study at universities abroad.

Many of you are probably asking: „It is better to Czech or international test?“ It depends on the purpose for which you intend to obtain a certificate, and where you want to apply. If you do not suppose that you have studied or worked abroad, probably suffice Czech statesmen. In the second case definitely recommend internationally recognized tests.
