Five new rectors

Vaclav Klaus today appointed five new rectors of public universities. For three of them will be the first year in office, two were reelected. Among the new rectors of a woman appears. This is Iva Ritschelová, which will represent the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Usti nad Labem.

Other chancellors have been selected for the University of Ostrava, the Silesian University in Opava, as well as University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and the University of South Bohemia in the Czech Budejovice. Will perform its functions from 1 March. Their term of office runs until 2011, a year longer than it was before the amendment to the Higher Education Act. It originally had a three-year term extended to four years.
