Study abroad offers a unique opportunity to test their language skills into practice, learn a foreign culture and customs. Veronica Langer (19), third year student of Mendel Grammar School in Opava, graduated in 2005 year stay in New Zealand. In our two-part interview with you to share their experiences. Today we will focus mainly on pre-departure …

** Why New Zealand? ** It was a lot of countries from which to choose. I wanted to England, but England was surprisingly much more expensive than Zealand. I wanted to go there already because of the nature and also because I heard that New Zealanders are very friendly, hospitable and nice.

** Study abroad involves many fitting: one should be careful to remember what? ** Especially if it's through an agency does not need to worry too much. They alone will give you a list of things that are needed to arrange a deal with a valid passport to obtain a visa (do it for you), health certificates, exchange money, etc.

** It is possible to get financial aid? ** Despite the agency with which I took myself, it was not possible. It was not a question of mutual exchange. If for that year someone came to us also, so I think it might be cheaper. Some schools offer grants or institutions, but they can be obtained only in the selection, bankruptcy proceedings. But we normally pay.

** It is a must fluent in a foreign language? ** The agency, with whom I went, I had previously passed tests basic knowledge of English, otherwise I would not be accepted into the program. When a person goes somewhere and knows the language a bit, it will be easier. But if you do not understand, so for some time as well acclimatized.

** Where you stayed? ** We lived in families that are carefully selected by the Agency. The distribution of students in families, taking information about a student and it is looking for a suitable family, according to data about themselves and write in the application which then verifies the agency's staff through interviews and visits. Some families have even more students, but I was there alone.

** It is said other county, other habits – a trait you surprised? ** Definitely surprised me access to those people. They were perfectly fine, the burden on everyday concerns, not fighting, and overall it was a rest. Maybe in our country to leave the house and nezamknout for them in the country's normal. New Zealanders to marry for anything, do not know the stress that we have we are just laid-back.

In the next part of our interview you can read about studying in New Zealand and leisure. Veronica also tells a few tips to interested persons of a similar adventure.
