Faculty of Social Sciences invites you to an international conference organized on 19 – 21 September 2007. You Conference in Central Europe Union and the Union in Central Europe can be found here. The conference is held with the kind support from The International Visegrad Fund.

Conference theme: Contemporary Central Europe is an area of ​​growing economic, political and cultural integration. In the strict sense, this area consists of the Visegrad group, but from a broader perspective to it falls on one side of Austria and the „large“ central or eastern Europe are counted today, also Slovenia and Lithuania, but sometimes Latvia and Estonia. It is a state, which together with the Czech Republic joined the European Union enlargement, or managed by one wave earlier. Of course not forget to Germany as a founding country of the European Communities to the region remains crucial.

For these countries, „Central Europe's“ near a transnational frame of reference and its risks and challenges they are therefore very similar. Internal conflicts and the expression of national selfishness will lie to all the countries of central Europe and reduce its credibility. But it is precisely this central Europe, where we look for sources of orientation and behavior of the Czech Republic in the European Union.

The answer to the question we want the European Union and Europe more generally, certainly can not make just selected Central European perspective. Central Coherence relations with the European Union, expressed collectively in the name of the Conference of Central Europe in the Union and the Union in Central Europe, but will become an important touchstone for the participation of Czech (as well as its balance sheet) on the project of a united Europe.

The objectives of the conference include an assessment of challenges and risks associated with the Czech company's mem­bership in the European Union in the wider Central European perspective, mobilizing domestic and foreign, especially Central, scientific contacts, bridging industry specialization and seeking a common vanishing point, open problems, evaluation of past and comparing diagnoses and vision Czech company with a vision of diagnoses and neighboring countries. They also presented the results of the research project „Development of Czech society in the European Union: Challenges and Risks“.
