Studying at MU record 39 000 students

A record 39,000 students currently educated at Masaryk University. In comparison with the academic year 2006/2007, this means an increase of about 3,000 students. The first-year bachelor's, master's and master's programs this year enrolled 16 000 freshmen, which is about two thousand more than last year.

"The increase in the number of admitted students is a response to the growing interest in studying at Masaryk University and the long-term strategic plan and development needs of our high school. We are pleased that the Masaryk University among young people such interest, and that they really can offer quality education to which they succeed in our and European labor market, "said the rector of Masaryk University Petr Fiala.

The bachelor's degree programs for the following academic year 2008/2009, students can submit an application from 1 November 2007. Since last year, it is possible to submit applications to study at Masaryk University in electronic form only through the MU Information System.

Applicants for admission may choose from a total of 800 subjects in the undergraduate and master's programs. In the last entrance examinations for the academic year 2007/2008 Masaryk University received 61,000 applica­tions, which were 13 percent more than in 2006. The application was lodged over 39 000 candidates. Masaryk University and is still one of the premier universities in the Czech Republic.
