Is your dream to study one of the Romance languages? But I will not settle with the school that you learn while speaking, but nothing else? Try philology, should interest you. Note: This article has been updated 23rd 12th 2009 (-K-)
** What is it? ** For starters, it is advisable to define what actually this group of subjects can be studied in the philosophical faculties engaged. Firstly, it is not about philosophy. Secondly, it is not just the language. It is the study of language, culture and literature, the language chosen, therefore, in our case of France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, etc.
** Where do you study? ** As already mentioned, philology, Romance languages can be found in the philosophical faculties. Search in Brno, Prague, Ostrava, Olomouc and in other cities (see complete list below). Titles of most seem simple enough (Hispanic, French language and literature, etc.)
** ** Entrance exams Entrance examinations are usually relevant to the selected field. At MU, for example, go to the next ordinary (almost) write TSP university qualification test in the language appropriate level of knowledge for self-learning textbooks. The Charles University in Prague is somewhat more complicated – the tests are mostly multi-round, you must demonstrate knowledge of language, culture and literature. ** Items ** So if you decide to study a romanistického field, do not expect to fully learn the language and nothing more. I never learn it perfectly, if you try it yourself. Just going to school will not help much. And so you wait an hour spent on vocabulary and grammar. But not everything is ready for more „digging in the language,“ it certainly can not escape the linguistic level subjects – phonetics and phonology, morphology, semantics, etc. Also, the power neodvykejte learning history, there will be instilled with a selected history of the Roman area. And you read, read, read (that you did the test from the literature). Seems too much? Study of the Romance languages is definitely not easy, but do not panic, there is always some advantage. You will be literate, speak in a foreign country, and above all, educated. What more could you want?
** Application ** Romance philology graduate has the opportunity to use language as a translator. Generally, the acquired knowledge to offer more překladalství literature. If you want to become an interpreter or need europřekladatelem, look around the UK where there are fields of translation and interpreting, which, in philology have much in common. You can also work in education (sometimes located directly in the teaching of Romance languages, not only for educators).
