COMPARISON OF COURSES: International Relations II. part

Are you among the lovers of modern history, international organizations and diplomacy? We will advise you on how different studies of international relations at the individual faculties. In this work we focus on the West Bohemian University and Palacky University. Note: This article has been updated 6th 12th 2009

** ** University of West University of West Bohemia (Pilsen) offers the Philosophical Faculty at the Department of Politics and International Relations in the Study of International Territorial Studies full-time bachelor's degree in international relations – East European Studies, International Relations – British and American studies and Middle Eastern Studies.

Studies at the undergraduate level, offers traditional political science paradigms, methods and sub-fields (history of political thought, politics, general and comparative politics, political geography and geopolitics) but also the theoretical and practical initiatives that emerge from contemporary international relations (the study of international institutions and global governance , theories of international relations, conflict studies in international relations) and East European Studies (the study of cultural and social realities and political systems of Eastern Europe, the study of foreign policy and regionalism in Eastern Europe and last but not least, the study of Russian and Slavic languages).

Middle Branch of the study is focused on a comprehensive study of culture, history, economy and society in the Middle East and seek an interdisciplinary approach to the issue of the Middle East, which will integrate knowledge and approaches of social and cultural anthropology, history, philology, sociology and political science. It aims to familiarize students not only with specific problems of the Middle East, but also emphasize bilateral contacts between the Middle East and other regions, especially with the Euro-American circuit. Great emphasis is also placed on the linguistic aspects of teaching (except for foreign languages ​​is offered in many languages ​​of the Middle East).

In the field of International Relations and East European Studies includes admissions test in social science base (with an emphasis on basic knowledge of international relations) and the realities of the region of Eastern Europe. 10–15% of the admission test questions in English. The candidates likely to know the English language at school-leaving exams.

Master's degree in International Relations is a two-year follow-up study program that is designed to candidates who have completed a bachelor's study of the socio-scientific discipline (political science, area studies, anthropology, etc.). Field pays attention to the practice and theory of international relations, especially security issues, development and conflict resolution. Students can also choose from three focus – the history of international relations, regionalism and European Security Studies. Studies prepares students for entry into the practice of international politics and foreign policy, security policy and in international tra­de.

In the field of International Relations and East European Studies includes admissions test in social science base (with an emphasis on basic knowledge of international relations) and the realities of the region of Eastern Europe. 10–15% of the admission test questions in English. On Middle East studies entrance examination shall also take the form of a written test containing 75 questions on culture, history and realities in the Middle East (from antiquity to the present) and general knowledge (philosophy, history, literature, art, etc.). Due to the nature of the study program is an admission test was written test containing 15 questions verifying basic knowledge of English. Prior knowledge of Middle Eastern languages ​​are not required.

Palacky University ** ** Degree in Political Science and European Studies offered by Palacky University in Olomouc is significantly related to the study of international relations. However, it is more focused on political science discipline, political theory, the development of political systems from the French Revolution, the Czech politics and the issue of the European Union. Field can not be combined in the two-field form and is offered at the undergraduate and master's level only in full form.

Written entrance examination consists of a test of general scholastic aptitude and social science and language test.
