Literary Competition 2009 SPUSA

This year pošestnácté launches Training Centre of the Friends of the U.S. – SPUSA a literary contest, this time on „The Lessons ** You've Taught Me (What You taught me )**“. competition is open for Czech and Slovak learners of English who may receive consideration, a short story or poem. The deadline is now May 7, 2009 ** **!

Each submitted work must meet the following conditions:

  • Must relate to the topic, even indirectly,
  • Work must be original copies or translations will not be accepted
  • Must be written in English on a computer or typewriter within these limits:
  • Category of students (under 15): 300 words
  • The category of secondary school (16–18 years): 500 words
  • Universities category (18–26 years): 600 words
  • Category of native speakers (18–26 years): 600 words

Work will be judged primarily in terms of their originality and creativity rather than by knowledge of English. Contestants from the first three categories must be native speakers

The competition is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy and is recommended by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The winners and those who will honestly be appointed, will be announced in the second week in June and

** The main prize is a month of study in the UK ** Prices include other locations such as Prague Summer Program at Charles University in Prague, one year of studying English in Prague SPUSA, MP3 player, books, pens, dictionaries, and much more. In addition, all those who fall into the second round, will receive membership in the Literary Club SPUSA.
