The Parliament should soon get a law allowing universities to charge study, which should cover all university students in the CR. At present, universities can collect tuition fees from students only, who extend the period of study. The bill submitted to the upper chamber of two Senators working on campus – the Rector of Masaryk University and vice-chancellor George Zlatuška VŠB Vaclav Roubicek.

According to their ideas to the level of fees should be a year about eight to ten thousand crowns. „This measure is more subtle than it first appears. Fees because, in our proposal, through academic senates of universities. And you often have a very egalitarian and social conscience,“ said the Zlatuška things.

Proposal but also has its opponents. Former Education Minister Eduard Zeman, among others, fears that the law opens the way tuition, and in time could reach astronomical heights. Even the current Education Minister Petra Buzkova to building design rather dismissive. „The government policy statement clearly states that the fees be introduced and it does not change anything,“ is her opinion.

Tuition fees at universities is quite commonplace in Great Britain, the law introducing school fees recently adopted by the Slovak also our neighbors.
