President Vaclav Klaus today appointed five new rectors of public universities, who will fulfill his term of office from 1 March this year.

It Vladimír Baar of the University of Ostrava, Vaclav god of University of South Bohemia in the Czech Budejovice, Josef Prusa from the University of West Bohemia, Zdenek Jirasek of the Silesian University in Opava and Zdeněk Havel of the University in Usti nad Labem. The last two are appointed by elected Chancellor's function for the second time.
The ceremony also involved the appointment of the Minister of Education Petra Buz and President of the Academy of Sciences Helen Illnerová.
