On 27 January at 10 am at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice, Czech logo introduced the International Year of Chemistry 2011th
Presentation of the winning logo from the competition among high school students organized by the Czech Society for chemical will take place at the closing 47th National Chemical Olympiad CR wheels.
The year 2011 was an international organization of UNESCO and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry IUPAC declared the International Year of Chemistry (International Year of Chemistrty, IYC).
Czech Chemical Society in cooperation with research and educational institutions focusing with chemical and chemical industry is preparing for this year a set of actions that would promote a positive perception of chemistry at the general public, increased interest in chemistry, especially among young people and stressed the role of science and chemistry for ensure that human needs for creative future.
Organizers announced the contest among high school students for a distinctive logo of the International Year of Chemistry – „2011 = Year of Chemistry“. The submitted designs selected by jury as the winning design student from high school John Cihlář Copernicus Bílovec.
Logo will be presented on Thursday 27 January in Pardubice, Faculty of Chemical Technology. For the finalists and the contest organizers and other interested parties after the official announcement will take place at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, guided tour of the exhibition „90 years & 60 Pardubice chemistry“ and „Retroskop“. The logo of the International Year of Chemistry and the Czech version of his talk to the art historian Martin Vitkova from the Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Kralove.
For the organizers of the International Year of Chemistry in the CR and the Czech chemical company said its board member professor Joseph Slovak:
„International Year of Chemistry is a good opportunity for us to begin to clearly and distinctly point out that chemistry is not a dreaded evil scarecrow that only bad people, but it is a science that helps us and facilitates normal activities. That chemical processes as well as the work of chemists are all around us (even us) and that without them we would be hard to live if we ever lived. “
Patronage of the International Year of Chemistry in the Republic took over the Czech Commission for UNESCO and supported financially by the Ministry of Environment.
