The first edition of European science olympiad European Union Science Olympiad (EUSO) took place in 2003. The founder of the competition is dr. Michael Cotter from Dublin City University, who came up with the idea of ​​organizing an international competition for natural science students under the age of 17 years. This is a multidisciplinary team competition that combines the discipline of science and engineering sciences, particularly physics, chemistry and biology. Always respects the age of students, content and duration of their studies.

EUSO is trying to arouse interest in studying science for as many young people, develops creativity and teamwork to solve problems, in addition also promotes research careers of talented young students and improve science education at national levels.
