On June 12 to 13 will take place in Brno International Conference entitled „Plagiarism across Europe and Beyond“. It is the culmination of several years of efforts of partners from 27 countries of the European Union, proposing an effective tool in the fight against plagiarism.
Hosted action will Faculty of Economics, Mendel University in Brno (PEF Mendel), which is one of the principal investigators of this unique project. The conference will also Debora Weber-Wulff, successful in detecting plagiarism among German politicians.
A project aimed at combating plagiátorům entitled „Impact of Policies for Plagiarism in Higher Education across Europe“ (IPPHEAE) was launched in 2010 and still was held in 27 EU countries. On the Brno conference will plagiarism prevention professionals from around the world (UK, Australia, UAE, USA Brazil, Thailand, Nigeria, Germany, Ireland) will present their research results in the perception of plagiarism in terms of cultural differences related to student mobility, comparing different methods of prevention, detection academic dishonesty and technical solutions proposed for the detection of plagiarism.
The key point of the program will be a public debate experts, eg. An independent consultant Jude Carroll (United Kingdom), which has more than ten years, explores what leads students to plagiarism, will present its proposals on how to prevent plagiarism in students. Another important guest will Debora Weber-Wulff from HTW Berlin (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin), which goes through the publication of cases of plagiarism among politicians (including the German Education Minister Annette Schavan) and academics.
