Nineteen of twenty-four rectors of Slovak universities on Friday 21 gathered in Prešov in May to discuss the particular problems and prospects of Slovak higher education.

The central theme of the Conference of Rectors of Slovak reform the financing of universities, namely the question of charging for the upcoming study. According to President George Sinaya Rectors Conference of Rectors, the government does not oppose the proposal, disagree with him, however, mainly in the competence of academic authorities decide on the amount of fees and other uses of remittances. Chancellors want to decide on the fees universities themselves. They would however, should be in the range of 0–30%, ie. That universities would have the option not to introduce tuition fees at all. „I am convinced that economists and lawyers go to the maximum, but on the other hand, students could study for free at some faculties,“ said the Sinai.

Slovak Education Minister Martin Fronc told the weekly talk about anything similar.
