One of the most respected Czech designers, Prof.. AKD. Pelcl architect George became rector in February this year the University of Applied Arts in Prague. He studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Prague and at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, where he worked from 1983–84, among other things, also designed the interiors for President Vaclav Havel at Prague Castle.

The new rector said that he would like the school was more readable for the public and its activity was more visible. It will seek clearer organizational structure, and that communication between management and students was intense. "The studios are currently too closed, barriers between disciplines must be removed. In order to cultivate a school influenced the daily life of society, its lifestyle, we need to educate professionals capable of working with the manufacturing sector, not only the individual creator of the original authors, "said Pelcl. It also plans to build another building in Prague learning Ďáblice. The new building will be based on the concept of large open spaces. Important will be a direct link to the workshop and computer workstations.
