The fourth annual national conference of the current role and status of university students was organized in 2004 under the auspices of the Rector of BUT John Vrbka, Academic Center for student activity (ACSA). Letošník year took place under the title "What to do in Bologna. Participating players are engaged in reforms in higher education in the so-called Bologna process. Individual contributions are the definition of pay issues, benefits and difficulties with the actual implementation of the high school students.

The conference program was divided into three topics: the Bologna process – what it is and what is good for strengthening the involvement of students in university governance and how to include student participation in national quality assurance system, including internal and external evaluation of higher education.

The first part introduced the representatives from the field of higher education, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Bologna process itself. Adele Jacíková, deputy head of ACSA, presented opinions on the subject by students of the Visegrad Four.

In the second block of Emanuel spoke Ondracek, Advisor of the Rector of BUT, the nature and different perspectives on the management of universities. Research Council of Europe regarding the participation of students in academic self-government introduced Catherine Pacov from Masaryk University in Brno and the practical involvement of students in the management of the University of Hradec Kralove informed the Chancellor Ondrej Tikovský.

In the third part offered John Withers of the Center for the Study of Higher Education Overview of internal and external evaluation of universities in the Czech Republic. Then followed three thematically related studies and the presentation of individual contributors have sparked a lively discussion with participants.

The program was also introduced ACSA. This year the conference organizers decided to add a companion event called „Study and live full, it goes well“, which presented its 1926 activities of student organizations in the CR.

The main objective of the conference was to provide space for meetings, presentations and exchange of views of all interested parties. This year's ACSA conference attended by 150 participants. (More www.acsa.vutbr.cz)
